This policy explains how Riak Labs ("we", "us") handles personal information when you visit riaklabs.com, book a 30-minute discovery call with us, or work with us. Riak Labs is a business operated by Emmanuel Riak, a sole trader based in Australia (ABN 58 737 492 261). We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
- Booking details. When you book a discovery call, our scheduling provider (Cal.com) collects your name, email address, the time you choose, and anything you write in the booking form.
- Things you send us. Emails, messages and files you share with us, including information about your business and its processes.
- Client project information. If we work together, we may access business systems and data you give us access to, only as needed to deliver the project.
- Basic technical data. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records standard information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested.
This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies, and we do not sell personal information.
How we use it
- To arrange and hold 30-minute discovery calls and reply to enquiries.
- To scope, deliver and support projects you engage us for.
- To send occasional follow-ups related to your enquiry or project. You can ask us to stop at any time.
- To keep the website running securely and meet our legal obligations.
Who we share it with
We only share personal information with service providers that help us run the business, such as:
- Cal.com, for call scheduling
- Netlify, for website hosting
- Google, for web fonts and email
- Unsplash, which serves some of the photographs on this site
- Software platforms used to build client automations (for example n8n, OpenAI or Anthropic), where a project requires it and with your agreement
Some of these providers store data outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. We choose reputable providers and only share what is needed.
How we protect it
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. That includes using secure, access-controlled accounts, limiting access to client systems to what a project needs, and deleting or returning information when it is no longer required.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing emman@riaklabs.com. We'll respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we've handled your information, please contact us first and we'll do our best to resolve it. If you're not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page.
